The Documentary about Lior Liebling, a “Spiritual Genius” with Down Syndrome
Pamper your soul and watch Lior - Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi
PRAYING WITH LIOR returns to Boston the weekend of April 25 for a limited time. If you didn't see PRAYING WITH LIOR this past fall during the Boston Jewish Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award for Best Documentary, now is your chance! An engrossing, wrenching and tender documentary film, PRAYING WITH LIOR introduces Lior Liebling, also called "the little rebbe." Lior has Down syndrome, and has spent his entire life praying with utter abandon. Is he a "spiritual genius" as many around him say? Or simply the vessel that contains everyone’s unfulfilled wishes and expectations? While everyone agrees Lior is closer to God, he’s also a burden, a best friend, an inspiration, and an embarrassment, depending on which family member is speaking. As this moving and entertaining documentary moves to its climax, Lior must pass through the gateway to manhood - his Bar Mitzvah. PRAYING WITH LIOR poses difficult questions such as what is "disability" and who really talks to God? Told with intimacy and humor, PRAYING WITH LIOR is a family story, a triumph story, a grief story, a divinely-inspired story.
Filmmaker Ilana Trachtman, Lior Liebling and his family - father Rabbi Mordechai Liebling, stepmother Lynne Iser, and sister Anna Liebling – will be at the opening.
If you are interested in booking a private screening of PRAYING WITH LIOR at the West Newton Cinema, or would like to bring your students or members of your organization, please contact the theater's manager David Bramante at 617-755-3517. The movie is scheduled to run at least through May 8.
Inspirational and thought-provoking, this family-friendly film is scheduled for a limited engagement. So come to the WEST NEWTON CINEMA starting April 25th, and see what everyone is talking about!
