The Chapel Service
Held at Temple B'nai Moshe, 1845 Commonwealth Ave., Brighton

Rabbi Cherie Koller-Fox

The Chapel Service is for people who don't belong to a synagogue and for those visiting Boston during the High Holidays. Students are warmly welcome as are couples and empty nesters. We welcome children but we don't have any childcare for the holidays. Our service is warm, participatory and meaningful. For reference, I would call it a mixture of Reform and Conservative with a bit of a spiritual twist. You will learn and discuss and pray and laugh and cry. We meet in the chapel at Temple B'nai Moshe of Brighton (1845 Comm Ave)--right near Cleveland Circle. For newcomers, the price is a donation of your choice. Check out our website www.highholidaysboston.com for more information.

Looking for Traditional, Family and Tot Friendly High Holiday Services? Join us at Congregation Mishkan Tefila in Newton!

If you are looking for a wonderful, vibrant, family friendly experience for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Congregation Mishkan Tefila, one of the area's oldest conservative synagogues, is opening its doors to the community and offering complimentary tickets to those interested in joining us as a way to introduce our community to more families.

There are three options for services - a Traditional Service in the Main Sanctuary led by Rabbi Leonard Gordon and Cantor Sarah Myerson, a Family Service led by Rabbi Marcia Plumb accompanied by Josh Shriber (of Josh and the Jamtones) appropriate for pre-k and grade school age kids,  and our Tot Service which is more story and song oriented led by Mindy Elins. Both options are wonderful and they aren't really 'age specific' so you can choose the one that best meets your family's interest.

If you are interested in tickets, please send an email to youngfamilies.mishkantefila@gmail.com to get a ticket request form or call the synagogue at 617.332.7700.

Ma'yan Tikvah celebrates the High Holidays in the woods with morning services on Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur as well as Kol Nidre services on Erev Yom Kippur. The services are informal and a combination of traditional and nontraditional. Morning services are held outside, or if the weather requires it, under an outdoor pavilion. There is time to sing, to appreciate the natural world around us, to meditate and pray, to read and discuss the Torah portion, to hear the sound of the Sofar on Rosh HaShanah, and to remember our loved ones during Yizkor on Yom Kippur. On Rosh HaShanah the service is followed by a pot-luck lunch and tashlich. The second night dinner is held in Framingham and is open and welcoming to people of all faiths. The Kol Nidre service is mostly indoors, but if weather permits we go outside for part of the service.

The second day of Rosh HaShanah service is quieter  - a walk through the meadows and woods beside the Sudbury River interspersed with meditations, prayers, discussion, and the blowing of the shofar, and ending with a picnic lunch - bring your own.

All are welcome to join Ma'yan Tikvah's services.  Go to http://www.mayantikvah.org/shabbat-holidays-and-classes/ to register. We ask that you donate more if you can and less if you can't - suggested donation amounts range from $36 for one person for one service to $162 for a couple for all services, with each additional person in a family being $45. For more information contact Rabbi Katy Allen at rabbi@mayantikvah.org.
