Open Houses: Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills

Start Date/Time: Sunday, September 13, 2015 10:00 AM
End Date/Time: Sunday, September 13, 2015 11:30 AM
Description:

Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills, formerly Temples Shalom of Milton and Beth El of Quincy, will hold two Open Houses this summer for prospective members as well as anyone interested in the synagogue and its activities.

The first will be on Sunday, August 30, 10-11:30 a.m. at the gazebo at Milton Town Hall, 525 Canton Avenue.  Visitors are welcome to learn about our new synagogue building, see up-to-the-minute photos of the work in progress, sign up for tours of the building site, obtain High Holiday service information, and enjoy activities for the kids.

The second Open House will be on Sunday, Sept. 13, 10 a.m. to noon at Pierce Middle School, 451 Central Avenue in Milton.  Visitors will be able to get synagogue information and join with the Religious School for High Holiday Family Activity Day.

All interested families in the South Shore and Greater Boston area are invited to attend either or both Open Houses.  Meet Rabbi Alfred Benjamin and Education Director Nancy Mollitor, learn about the congregation’s programs and activities, and find out about our Special First Year Membership and Religious School rates.  First time attendees to either Open House will receive a complimentary ticket for one High Holiday or Family service.

Congregation Beth Shalom is also accepting registrations to its Rabbi Jerome Weistrop Religious School, which meets on Sunday mornings and Tuesday afternoons.  Under the leadership of Nancy Mollitor, the school has small class sizes and a very active and innovative curriculum, including unique holiday celebrations, monthly pre-school-age Story Hour, Family Learner’s Services, field trips, Bar/Bat Mitzvah classes, teenage discussion groups with Rabbi Benjamin, Jewish film appreciation, and Holiday Family Activity days.  The school is also a partner in the Passport to Israel Program, which helps fund teen trips to Israel.  For religious school information, call the synagogue office at 617-698-3394.

Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills is an egalitarian congregation which welcomes inter-married families.  Its worship services currently are at the Johnson Great Hall Sanctuary in the First Congregational Church, 495 Canton Avenue, Milton.  For information about membership or programs, please call the synagogue office at 617-698-3394, Email office@BethShalomBlueHills.org or visit www.BethShalomBlue Hills.org.
