Come join Hadassah Northeast, the Social Action Committee of Temple Emunah, and Jewish Family & Children’s Service for a workshop and panel discussion on domestic violence. Learn more about what we as individuals and as a community can do to help a friend, family member, co-worker and or neighbor who is being abused by his or her spouse or partner. Domestic abuse happens at about the same rate in the Jewish community as it does in the general population.
Once thought to be a private matter, we understand more clearly than ever that abuse thrives in silence and isolation. Held during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, this workshop seeks to break that silence and broaden our collective response to domestic abuse in the Jewish community and beyond.
Speakers include Randy Susan Myers, bestselling author of The Murderer’s Daughters, The Comfort of Lies and Accidents of Marriage; Susan Howards, Ph.D., J.D., Brookline-based Criminal Defense Attorney with a focus on domestic violence and restraining orders; and Julie Youdovin, Outreach and Program Coordinator at Journey to Safety, the domestic abuse program of Jewish Family & Children’s Service.
