JP Flicks Presents "The Matchmaker"
Saturday December 13th, 7:30 pm
During the summer of 1968 in Haifa, a teenage boy named Arik goes to work for a matchmaker who has survived the Holocaust. Both their lives are forever altered. In this 2012 film written and directed by Avi Nesher, Arik’s coming-of-age story and the personalities he encounters along the way express the hopes and fears of a country awash in unsettling history. Discussion by Prof. Lew Shaw. Since 2008, Lew has been a visiting professor at the University of Haifa and spends several months a year living and working there.
