Belmont World Film presents the New England premiere of the film Belle and Sebastian as part of the 12th edition of its popular Family Film Festival for children ages 3-15. Set in a breathtaking village in the French Alps, the film is about a lonely six-year-old boy (Sebastian) and the wild yet gentle dog he befriends (Belle), despite the villagers fears that the dog is killing the town's sheep. Together they look to foil a Nazi effort to capture French Resistance fighters involved in helping Jews escape to Switzerland. The film is recommended for age 6–15. A prize giveaway includes a pet emergency backpacks courtesy of the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
Belmont World Film's Family Festival runs from January 16-19, 2015, at the Studio Cinema in Belmont (376 Trapelo Road) and the Arlington Regent Theatre (7 Medford Street). It features twelve animated and live action film programs—many of them premieres—from such diverse countries as Australia, Canada, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, the US, and more, and includes a tribute to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday.
