On Sat. 9/4 at 8:30 PM,  Temples Emunah & Isaiah of Lexington will join at Temple Emunah to screen “The Enemy Within”, a first season Star Trek episode, as part of a Selihot service. A discussion of the nature of human inclinations will follow the presentation.  At 10:00 PM, congregants will participate in a service led by the clergy of both temples and accompanied by a joint congregational choir.

 In this episode of Star Trek,  a transporter malfunction results in two vastly different captains beaming aboard the Starship:  one is weak and indecisive, the other is mean-spirited and aggressive.  This view of the two sides of human nature provides the basis for discussion and contemplation that will follow.

 The public is welcome to attend this meaningful start to the season of reflection and repentance. The program includes a service and refreshments.
