The Lost Society of Polish JewryWednesday, November 18, 7:00 pm, Newton Free Library, 330 Homer St., Newton, MA: Allan Chernoff’s book The Tailors of Tomaszow: A Memoir of Polish Jews is a communal memoir and history that describes prewar life including cultural, social, religious, business and political details. Join him for a lecture that will examine myths of the Holocaust and explore difficult questions such as: Why were most Jews poorly prepared to resist the Nazis? How did some survive? Heidi Urich, president of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston, will speak about their programs and resources. Librarian Ginny Audet, will briefly discuss Holocaust-related books that the library owns. A book signing will follow with books provided by New England Mobile Book Fair. Award-winning journalist Allan Chernoff is a former Senior Correspondent for CNN and CNBC. His work has appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles TimesFinancial Times, Money and The Forward. Programs are free and open to the public.
