The Last Tisha B'Av?
For the second year in a row --- and hopefully the last --- The Adams Street Shul will be Newton's host location for the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation's worldwide Tisha B'Av event. This event will bring together 50,000 participants at 700 locations in 16 countries. Newton's historic synagogue is proud to be one of them.
The August 5th event includes two distinct 90-minute programs:
The first program will begin right after the 7 AM morning services of Tisha B'Av conclude, at about 9:00 AM. This program includes presentations by Rabbi Paysach Krohn and Rabbi Zev Leff.
Rabbi Paysach Krohn and Rabbi Zev Leff will inspire us to to viewShmiras Haloshon (guarding our speech) as a vital and doable mitzvah (divine commandment).
The second program will begin at 6:00 PM, which is ninety minutes before mincha (the start of afternoon and evening services). It features Rabbi Jonathan Rietti and Mr. Charlie Harary.
These two dynamic lecturers offer masterful presentations that examine the nature of negative speech and the manner in which it destroys unity.
With their own unique and powerful styles, these four lecturers leave an indelible message about howloshon hora (prohibited speech) works.
They inspire us to look inside ourselves, to identify and overcome all the obstacles that distance us from this mitzvah. Each speaker offers concrete steps to take to ensure that, this Tisha B’Av, the participants’ awakening will result in long-lasting change.
Admission is $15 at the door, but $10 for students who register in advance using the form atAdamsStreet.org/event/TishaBav.
One admission covers both the morning and afternoon programs.
These shiurim are being produced by The Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation, a foundation dedicated to bringing Goodness and Compassion into the World.
Since 1989, the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation has successfully launched innovative methods of promoting the Torah's wisdom on human relations and personal development.
