Join us at the Workmen’s Circle to see this new film (Yiddish with English subtitles), in which Boris Sandler, Editor-in-Chief of the Yiddish Forverts, interviews Yiddish writer Avrom Karpinovitch and guides viewers on a journey through today’s Vilna, highlighting locales described in Karpinovitch’s own poignant and piquant tales. Rather than the elite of Vilna, Karpinovitch’s creative muses were the thieves and prostitutes hanging around his father’s theatre, the People’s Yiddish Theatre, which was central to his family’s life. The film reflects Karpinovitch’s rich Vilna Yiddish and warm humor.
Sandler will be present to discuss the film and take questions from the audience.
An optional potluck dinner at 6:30 precedes the film.
A suggested donation of $7 helps support our programming.
