REMEMBER
Film and the Preservation of Memory
Art in general and film in particular have become vital vehicles for preserving and advancing memory. In an age where mass atrocities have become almost common, the continuing effort to understand and remember the events of the Shoah remains an essential part of the struggle to overcome intolerance and continued indifference to human suffering. To commemorate the events of the Shoah and strengthen memory there will be a special viewing of the film “The Gold of Rome” (with English subtitles), which depicts the story of the deportation of the Jews of Rome during the Nazi occupation. The program will include presentations by Prof. Sergio Parussa on “Film and Public Memory.”
