A teenage boy dealing with dyslexia is the focus of a one-man play at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center (333 Nahanton Street) in Newton on Monday, February 9 at 7:30pm. In Never Ever Ever, actor Jordan Ahnquist reveals what it’s like to feel like an outsider, to be differently-abled, yet at the same time whole.
The play, written by Sivan Ben Yishai and presented by Israeli Stage, won four Assitej Awards (International Association of Theater for Children and Young People) in 2013. The show is performed as a staged reading.
A post-performance conversation will take place with Ahnquist, director Guy Ben-Aharon and staff from Gateways: Access to Jewish Education, a local organization that provides services to children with special needs and educational challenges. The program is part of the Ryna Greenbaum JCC Center for the Arts. The show is co-sponsored by Gateways, Jewish Big Brother and Big Sister, the JCC’s Inclusion and Support Services, Jewish Vocational Service and Yachad. Cost is $15. Purchase tickets at www.bostonjcc.org/artsevents or contact 617-965-5226 or boxoffice@jccgb.org.
